What Causes Diseases? | Types of Diseases | Causes of Diseases |
A disease is a particular abnormal condition that negatively affects part or
all of an organism. Diseases are caused by two different things: An external
pathogen, which means that a virus is passed to you from another source,
or, it could be caused by an internal disfunction. An example of an
internal disfuntion: An internal disfuntion of your
immune system could cause many varying diseases, such as allergies or
hypersensitivity.
An example of an external pathogen is if you are in close proximity to
someone who is sick, if they touch you, the disease in them could get passed
onto you.
There are four main types of disease: infectious diseases, deficiency
diseases, hereditary diseases, and physiological diseases. Of course, there
are other types, but these are the most common.
If a person who is sick touches you, or sneezes or coughs next to you,
what's your first response? You're probably worried that you will get sick
now, right? Well, believe it or not, not all diseases are infectious by
touch. The diseases that spread from hand-to-hand contact contain what is
known as pathogens, which carry varieties of bacteria, viruses, and
fungi.
Some diseases, like cancer and heart diseases, are
non-infectious. These diseases are either partially or completely
based on genetics.
When people do not know the cause of a disease, people used to mythologize the diseases, or use it as a symbol for something that the place thinks is evil!
